Alcohol
Although GHB, Ketamine, and Rohypnol are the first to come to mind when discussing “date rape drugs”, the most common is usually overlooked. Alcohol is willingly ingested, easy to obtain, fairly inexpensive, and legal if over the age of 21 – which makes it the drug of choice to facilitate rape. The effects of alcohol can be similar to other date rape drugs, to include impaired judgment, poor motor coordination, dizziness, confusion, and unconsciousness when ingested in large amounts.

Rohypnol
Street Names
Rophies, Ropies, Ruffies, Roofies, La Rocha, Roofenol, Roche, Mexican Valium, Rib, Rope, Forget Pill, Poor Man's Quaalude, R-2's, Circles, Dulcitas, Whiteys, Trip and Fall, Mind Erasers, Pappas and Potatoes.

Drug Description
Rohypnol comes in a pill form which can be dissolved in liquid. The pill is usually small, round and white with Roche and a circle 1 or 2 inscribed on the front. If it has a circle 1 on the front then the pill is usually scribed with a line on the back. If the pill has a circle 2, then there are usually two scribes on the back in the form of an X.

Drug Effects:

Rapid onset of drug, especially when used with alcohol.
Initial functioning and then you are impaired.
"Blackouts" equal to that of alcohol.
8 to 12 hour loss of memory.
You are awake during the "high stage" and may appear drunk.
Total lack of recall.
"Cameo appearances" by suspect.
2 to 3 days of fuzziness/fatigue is possible after use.
Traceable in blood for up to 4 hours.
Traceable in urine up to 72 hours.

Gamma Hydroxy Butyrate
Street Names
GHB, G, GH Buddy, Aminos, Blue Nitro, Jib, Scoop, Liquid, E, Liquid X, Grievous Bodily Harm, Easy Lay, Gamma 10, Salty Water, Thunder, Blue Thunder, Thunder Nectar, Renewtrient, Revivarant, Remforce, Firewater, Invigorate, Xyrem (research product).

Drug Description
GHB is used mostly in the liquid form. It is added to numerous beverages, the most common being the alcoholic beverage Goldschlager. However, a rapist using this drug will add it to anything that can be consumed to cover the taste of the drug. Alcohol is the most common additive because it enhances the depressant effects of the drug. Analogs or chemical cousins of GHB have also been used for sexual assault purposes. The analog may not be GHB but once digested, your body converts the chemical cousin to GHB. These analogs consist of:
- Gamma Butyl Lactone (GBL) also known as 2 (3H) furanone dihydroxy, Blue Nitro, Renewtrient, Revivarant, Remforce and Firewater.
- 1,4 butanediol also known as: tetramethylene glycol, Sucol-B, Serenity, FX, Weight Belt Cleaner, Enliven, Biosul.

Drug Effects:

Vomiting
Rapid Intoxication
Visual Hallucinations
Drowsiness
Dizziness
Uncontrollable Seizures
Sexually oriented behavior
Nausea
No gag reflex
Possible Aggression
Slow Pulse
Deep, unarousable coma
Amnesia (Loss of Memory)
Seizure type movement
Symptoms disappear suddenly
Out of body experience
Drug effects last 3 to 5 hours

Ketamine
Street Names
Ketalar, Ketajet, Ketaset, Special K or Ket.

Drug Description
Found in the liquid, tablet, or powder form. If in the powder form, Ketamine looks similar to cocaine and heroin in the sense that it is a white crystalline powder but it is duller and more powdery than cocaine.
The liquid form may be injected, added to a smokeable substance or consumed in drinks. The powder form is inhaled or taken in capsule form.
Ketamine is a less potent form of PCP and has been used as an anesthetic.

Slurred speech
Hallucinations
Increased Heart Rate
Dream Like State
Increased Blood Pressure
Psychological Near Death Experiences 
Lack of coordination
Paranoia
Trouble Breathing
Aggressive Behavior
Paralysis
Amnesia
Risk of Heart Attack
Nausea if taken with food
Coma or Death

MDMB/ Ecstasy
Street Names
X, XTC, E, Doves, Crowns, Jaw Breaker, Love Drug, Rolls, Street Rolls, D&G, DG, Mercedes, Mitsubishi, the Hug Drug, Smurfs.

Drug Description
MDMA is used in a tablet or pill form. MDMA tablets usually have brand names, designs, or logos marked on the pill or tablet for trafficking purposes. Among the more popular logos are butterflies, lightening bolts, four-leaf clovers and car emblems. The color of the tablets and gel pills range.

Drug Effects:

Communication barrier breakdown -user feels more able to open up
Decrease in sexual behavior
Sense of smell, touch, taste and vision are enhanced or distorted
Acceptance of negative experiences
Increased self-awareness
Pupil dilation
Teeth grinding
Jaw muscle spasms and other muscle spasms
Headaches
Dehydration
Nausea
Possible exhaustion.
May cause anxiety or panic attacks.
Depression and mood swings.
Possible kidney failure, liver damage, stroke.
Hyperthermia (body temperature too high).
Lapses in memory and insomnia.
Convulsions, seizures, coma, cerebral edema and incontinence.
